Virtual Events
Project Summary
The Internet Society hosts a virtual 2-day event for our global community of chapters and volunteers. The purpose of this event is to create a sense of belonging to our global community and inspire and motivate people to be involved in activities.
Challenge
2022 was the second time this event was produced. I wanted to refine the creative approach to the event and make a cohesive experience for attendees and presenters.
Solution
In 2022 the Internet Society was focused on mitigating threats to the Internet through policy and advocacy work streams. I wanted to acknowledge the importance of the situation but still keep the overall event objectives in mind.
The theme of defending the Internet was the large-scale focus for engaging the community. As our community works to further our mission at the local level, these are the everyday heroes of the Internet.
I created a “superhero” approach to creative design as a light-hearted approach to a serious topic. This informed what the event looked like and also gave a focal point for overarching messaging.
Role
Strategic brainstorming and direction, creative brief writing, art direction, agency management, video producer and production, supporting graphic production.
Results
Higher participation from previous year’s event with people submitting videos to help with social engagement
Highly engaged participants during the event
Cohesive storytelling throughout the experience
